Critique Groups

Read our Critique Group Guidelines here.

We offer three  levels of critique groups:

5000 Word Critique Group:

This critique group meets once a month. One week prior to the group, writers submit up to 5000 words of their manuscript to be critiqued by the group members. Members read every submission and make comments within the document about what they like as well as any suggestions they have. When the group meets, each member gets 20 to 30 minutes of feedback on his/her submission. You must sign up in advance to be a part of this group. Contact us if you’re interested in joining the group. See our critique group guidelines for more information on how we run our groups.

* This group is limited to six people to ensure that members receive quality feedback.

* You can submit fewer than 5000 words, but not more than 5000 words.

* If you submit your entry late, there’s no guarantee that everyone will have time to critique your entry.

Starting Block Group:

This is a one day workshop that is offered two to three times a year. The workshop includes in-depth character profiles, basic plot structure/beat sheets, where to start your novel, and the challenges of writing the middle of your novel. Most of the work is done in the class with time to workshop your ideas and receive feedback. Contact us if you’re interested in this workshop.
